precision turbos are mostly 5 bolt flanges, so is it garrett that has 4 bolts or 3bolts

Garrett turbos can come with 4-bolt outlets as well as 5-bolt outlets on their turbos. Off-the-shelf turbos just have the cheap or most common options, but you can order them in specific ways.

If I am not mistaken, 3 of the 4 holes are there in a 5 bolt flange, I don't see wht you can't get a 4 bolt gasket, drill the 4th hole, then trim the 5 bolt flange if it don't fit.

now, your DP might be pointed in the wrong direction after......

Not necessarily as they offer both. 2 holes only line up... the 3rd one is close but is about 1/8-1/4" off. The orientation will most likely be different as well.

5 bolt

4 bolt

Reweld the flange and make it easy on yourself.

i bought my precision turbo with 4 bolt because it was cheaper than the 5 bolt.

and i dont think there is such a thing as a 4 bolt gasket. ive never used gaskets. they wont leak at all if both surfaces are flat.

4 bolts and 5 bolts are the same in price. I know because I distribute for precision.

Precision uses garrett CHRA's.... not covers. It could just be what the place you bought it from was telling you because they wanted to sell you the 4 bolt instead of the 5 bolt, lol.

Just weld a v-band flange to the turbos exhaust housing. That will be much better than any 4 or 5 bolt flange. You'll never have to worry about bolts again.

Different grade of steel in the 5 bolt housings than the 4 bolts FROM GARRETT. There's a bit more nickel in them than the T31 4 bolt. Not enough to really Matter IMHO, because 4 bolts are easier to install, but that's how they work.

Since Precision uses the same material in both their 4 bolt and 5 bolt from the foundery they use, there's no difference in price. It's an absorbed cost in their manufacturing either way.
