Default Paint prep. on Urathane lip ?????

I've been wanting to paint a urathane itr lip but I heard there was a a special way you have to prep the surface, due to the release agent used in the molding process. Is there a chemical that i can use to clean it before paint work? Thanks in advance for any help...

If its raw plastic, wash w/ hot soapy water to remove the agent. Bake the part if possible to release any thing else that may be trapped. Wash again w/ hot soapy water. Prep w/ water and grey scothbrite and/or fine grit around 1000. Clean w/ raw plastic prep cleaner (BASF 902 for example). You can also try a dab of MEK on an inconspicuous area. If its ok wipe w/ MEK (dont try if your not comfortable doing it). Use a raw plastic adhesion promoter, preferably one from the paint sysem being used. Paint away.

if the part is brand new use a grey scuff pad. then completely clean it up with wax and grease remover. after thats dry spray adhesion promoter on it (1 light coat only) give it 5-10 mins and then spray your base coat paint and then clear coat make sure to clear adequate time between coats for them to dry properly.
