dohc zc problem
i have a dohc zc that i just adjusted the valves on yesterday. Now this morning it wont start. After me and a friend finished the adjustment it wouldnt stay running like it would start but then die right away so the guy helping me messed with the throttle body a lil bit and had it running decent a little high idle but nothing major. So i get up this morning and nothing, just cranking with foot to the floor anyway that i tried it still was nothing. So i come home from work and work on it and wondering if there is a way to adjust the little thing that pushes on the throttle body wheel or whatever its run off a vacuum to the intake manifold. If u have a zc u will understand wat im talking about. ne help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and sorry for the novel here.

i just know that we had it running last night so i dont know y it is acting up now except for maybe that thing that pushes on the throttle body pulley thing

Can you verify what the valve lash was adjusted to? My honest guess is that they are overtightened and your valves aren't closing, resulting in no compression.
well i have it running now and i dont have neway to check the lash but if i didnt have any compression would it run at all i mean it kinda sounds a little rough but still runable
Depends on how many cylinders don't have compression. Now you just said that you don't have any way to check the lash, I have to ask, how was it checked when you and your friend did it the first time around?
we kinda did a ghetto by ear job but has always worked before idk its running now i guess ill just see how it runs for a while or get a gauge sometime does anyone kno wat the clearances are for a dohc zc intake and exhaust

My guess is that maybe a one or two valves may not be fully closing. After I've adjusted my valves on a motor, I usually spin the motor (the correct direction of course) then check and make sure the amount of play is uniform. There have been times that I've adjusted it to the exact spec needed, but afterwards when I double check there is 0 clearance and I have to do it again. If there is 0 clearance, then there's a strong possibility that the rocker arm (or whatever you might call it) is already pushing the valve open.
It's been a while since I've done mine, but I'm sure I went with whatever an 89 Integra spec is. I'm almost positive that most Honda's are (or around) .007-.009 for intake and .009-.011 for exhaust. Don't quote me on that just yet though. Search.

I did that on my d15. It runs great too.
A dohc zc might be similar but: <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by 24TEN »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Don't quote me on that just yet though. Search.</TD></TR></TABLE>

DOHC ZC valve clearance:
Intake - 0.13mm - 0.17mm - 0.005 in. - 0.007 in.
Exhaust - 0.15mm - 0.19mm - 0.006 in. - 0.008 in.
on the DOHC ZC, you check the clearance between the top of the rocker arm and the bottom side of the cam lobe - not between rocker and valve like you would a SOHC
