putting 96-98 headlights on a 99-00 civic question
i have a 2000 civic coupe and i want to make it siR so i am gettin siR headlights and bumper, but i dont know if i need a 96-98 hood too?
You need all the body pieces on the front end.
96-98
Hood
Fenders
Grille
Bumpers
Lights
And you might need to modify the radiator support.

Note: There are '99-'00 SiRs too. The "SiR" bumpers and "SiR" headlights are not just from Civics with the trim SiR. In some countries those are just the normal '96-'98 bumpers, with the coupes having the bumpers we have here.
Saying you want to turn your 2000 Civic coupe into an SiR involves completely different things than what you were trying to explain because there are so many different years, trims and body styles that are called the SiR.
These cars include the Canadian SiR, which is the same as our Civic Si coupe (EM1). In Europe the SiR is a hatch or sedan with a B16A (EK4). Though those are often '96-'98 (trim levels changed names there in some countries), not all are. All of these cars are referred also to as a VTi in other countries.
You're looking for the "SiR" bumpers and "SiR" headlights though. The pieces those refer to, as explained before, are only available for the 1996-1998 years. In order to make them fit onto your car, you're going to need to replace all the parts ek forever guy mentioned.
Hope this post helped you learn a little bit.

I thought it was mentioned to modify the core support, not replace it. Though replacing it would make it cleaner imo.

There are several really nice cars which have done the '99-'00 to '96-'98 conversion.
niccuhles was one of them.

His car looked much better after the conversion imo.

I don't know if there is a write up, but I know there's some bolts holding it on and some welding involved.

Yes, there are ~10 spot welds I believe and a few bolts on each side.
The welds are easy to drill out, but you'd want to get it spot welded at some point.
