Well... the time has finally come, that I've been looking forward to for quite a while. I got my medical form signed today, and this weekend will be my first Honda-Challenge race, and I can hardly wait. I spent last weekend at the track, instructing, as well as scrubbing my race tires in, and getting some more practice. As the underdog in my class(H2)(with factory suspension and cheap tires), I look forward to just getting out there and having fun. Right now, playing it safe, gaining some experience and having a good time is my main concern. I'm looking forward to racing with such a great group of guys, and I'll be watching for those fast H3 guys(Scott..Karl..Chris..etc) to crawl up my back early on in the race. Hell, I may even see Bookler. Anyway, Good Luck to all, and let's keep it safe.

The way the car felt last weekend, I'll just see everybody when they lap me. I think I managed to find a 1.6L bottom end with low compression, or maybe very poorly balanced pistons from the factory. I really think the car was faster with the 1.5L bottom end, and with THAT engine I couldn't keep up with the Sis on the straights. I have a LOT of work to do to get that car up to speed in H4.

Thanks for the comments. Are you talking about my 3 wide pass on Saturday? The only problem with that is both of the cars were in PS3 - one class lower than me. I was able to get by them fairly easily because they went through the turn two-wide, which killed their momentum. Other than that, I was struggling to get past them.

I too am looking forward to my first race. As this weekend gets closer I find myself going from excitement to terror. My nerves are shot. I am a mess. I have wanted to race my entire life and I am now 3 days away from achieving my dream. I couldn't think of a group I would rather have my first race with. You guys ARE the reason why I went ahead and got my **** together for this season. I can't think of a better group to race with. The friends I have found off track make the time before and after races enjoyable and that friendship is a big reason why I believe the 13/13 rule will be a success. I wanted to be a part of the first season of the East Coast Honda Challenge. I am about to do it. Thanks for all the help you all have given me on my road to where I am going this Saturday.

There is no middle ground. You either love it or run away screaming. I'm thinking you guys will be loving it.

As far as racing this car goes.. I'm kinda hoping the 13/13 rule will help out a little, but it hasn't always been this pristine, and I don't expect it to stay that way forever. You bought your car new as well, didn't you? I'm looking forward to being out there with you guys, and Scott... I'll try to stay out of your way.

 

Yeah, but it was 7 years old before it's first bump draft <sniffle>. You'll always remember your first bump draft.

But only from people who jump straight in without doing HPDE type stuff first.
Racing for the first time is a shock to the system. I can't imagine combining that with seeing a race track for the first time.
