Default Some plasma cutting action today!

Cutting the slab 72" x 27 " to fit ontop of this workbench. The slab was originally 4'x8' long lol.

nice!

what was the thickness on that & whats your plasma cutter rated for. It looks to be doing quite a good job.

I'm suprized your not using a brace to slide your tip against (to keep a straight cut) .. ?

I did think of what you suggested, using a straight edge or piece of wood to keep the cut straight but the gun has a tapered edge and it wasn't working to well.. the side that we cut will be facing away from the bench/user so its not really critical. The metal is about 1/4" thick. had to get this cut up before the snow hits

if you aren't already, you should wear something to protect your eyes. it is basically the same as looking at a welding arc.

to cut a strait line REALLY easily, just clamp a strait bar along your cut line and rest the head of the torch on it and run it down. makes the line perfect!

QFT... coming from a guy who cut an inch off the ground once. haha obviously bigtom has done the same lol.

wear gloves, a welding helmet, and get your material about 6" off the ground next time.

No eye protection is an assumption considering you can't see his face from the angle of the photo. I would hope you are wearing some old style "goggles".
