Default looking to buy used ep3

i'm looking at used ep3's for a daily driver but also to modify lightly. what are the goods/bad about the ep3. good mileage? what issues to watch out for when i go look at used ep3s? i'm coming from a integra gsr, will the ep3 be an upgrade?

I dunno about an upgrade speedwise. I do like having a torquey two liter under the hood though. I have a CAI, Header, Exhaust and I don't drive nice and I get about 27 on a mix of city and highway. On just highway I am getting like 34ish?

The seats in the EP3 are the bomb. I love them, I love the amber glow white face gauges, decent amount of cargo room. Rear passengers always tell me that it is pretty roomy in the back (partially due to no hump in the middle on the floor). Nice amount of cup holders/ storage space for accesories up front.

Things to watch out for are the notchy 2nd gear (probably inevitable). Get wider tires (195s on a sport car is just LAME). If you lower it your steering might creak a little bit). Going to have MacPherson strut setup. Might not like that as much.

I don't really know what else to say? Any questions?

thanks for the good info. about that notchy 2nd gear, can you elaborate. is it when you try to shift into 2nd, it is not smooth, and fine once you are already in 2nd? or what exactly? and if a car does have this notchy 2nd gear, how is it fixed, and how much will it cost? or can you just ride the clutch a little when shifting to get over the nothchyness? how did you guys deal w/ the nothchy 2nd -ie fix it or live w/ it? thanks

I don't have the syncrho grind issue at all (61k miles). Buy an EP without a grind, shift well, and you shouldn't either.

The one thing you probably won't able to avoid is the steering wheel rack creak like mentioned above. You can relube it for a temporary fix but I'd rather turn the radio dial clockwise and drown it out. Ignorance is bliss.

It's fun to drive, has a k20 (can swap a2 in easily), rare*, and the interior is amazing*.

I don't see the ep3 as an upgrade over the GSR. IMO. I'de keep the 'teg.

With the ep3 it really comes down to, You either like them or you don't. It's like getting married, you have to take the good with the bad. And believe me, the ep3 is not much cheaper then a wife. I love mine and when and if i sell it it will be for a wrx.

When you say "hit me up" it kinda sounds like you trying out a gay pick up line.

4X100 bolt pattern is most common

steering creak is not a big deal- just a little noisey after lowering.
i don't even notice mine anymore.

2nd gear grind- Biggest complaint, easiest fix on the ep3...
Change the manual tranny fluid every 15,000 and it eliminates it (on mine and many others)
i posted a DIY for this, there's a few tricks i use... but mine('02 ep3) was from 2nd into 3rd grind.

*sure it sucks you have to do some tricks to eliminate a problem, but overall-
EP3's are great for Daily Drivers, and fun to mod!
i see a few guys come back in this forum over time... wishing they hadn't sold theirs!
That alone tells me to IGNORE the HATE of the RSX'ers! LOL

EP3 FTMFW!
