4th gen gas warning light tested
Well, after many years of wondering if the gas light works, I finally decided to test it. I filled up my spare gas tank with 5 gallons and put it in the trunk. At the normal 2-3 bars and ~385 miles driven, I decide to push it all the way.
At 444.7 miles, the car started to sputter. Gas light never came on.
Has anyone ever had the warning light come on?

check the bulb i guess, im also having this problem with my 98 accord, the gas warning light never lights up, its almost under the dash line but never lights up, took it appart the bulb was fine, so im thinking something with the wiring, but to lazy to find out, good luck on finding whats the problem with ur prelude
mine works, although nearing the end of the tank (after driving 10-20 miles w/ the gas light on) the car starts to bog a little bit, so i've never pushed it to the limit
Yeah I was in the same boat a while back, and got balzy. The light finally came on after 327 miles (I need to go back to the mpg thread... lol). It was cool, because at one point (I was VERY close to a gas station mind you) the light was on but it was very dim. I could literally press the gas and the light would get brighter or dimmer depending on throttle, pretty cool I guess.
I've never had a problem with my light not coming on, but I've also never driven it much further with it on to see exactly how low I am.
Usually it lights up dim for 30 secs. or so and then shuts off, then comes back on in a few miles, fully lit.

Mine works. In fact it's on right now. I've put up to 60 miles on the light but have never ran it out. The most fuel I've ever put in a tank is a little over 15 gallons. I think that the entire fuel system is only 15.5 gallons.
Mine comes on, and i have driven 70km before making it to the next petrol station, thats as far as i have pushed it. Dont want to ever run it dry.
well mine starts off dim and then fades away. and as i get lower on gas it continually comes back on and fades away again, but each time it gets brighter until i get low enough where it just stays on. All three of my preludes have done the same thing. They were all 92-93 models, wonder if that has anything to do with it.

mine works, mine came on right between the last and second bar. didnt test to see how far i could go though. be careful tough, when it get that low, you could suck up a lot of gunk from the bottom of the gas tank. check your fuel filter
I've driven on the final bar for quite a while once or twice going out to get food and not passing a gas station..
Heh
But I've never had the gas light work.. Didn't even know I had one..

Mine worked great with the H23 and P14 in the car, I always knew I had over 60 miles of gas left with it!! Since my swap to H22 and P13, it rarely turns on, even if all bars are gone. I ran out once, but it was when my sister had driven the car for awhile the night before, and I left the house to go a mile to the gas station and it started sputtering and died a block away from the station!
