Default School me on a s2k(AP1). Thinking about buying one.

Iam thinking of buying one, and wanted to know a couple things about them.

1. Hows the stock sound system with bass? Does it hit well?

2. What good aftermarket suspensions will actually make it handle better compared to what i remember hearing that after market suspension sometimes can make it handle worst than stock?

3. What good aftermarket exhausts are quiet and flow well? And does anyone got pics to show me?

4. How much does a mugen hard top go for? How about their body kits? Mugen MF10s? Probably would get those, BTW this car i want to get is black.

5. What is good compression numbers across the board for each cylinder seeing how its 11:1 comp? 250ish?

6. How much do they weigh stock? And how much do they weigh if the back is gutted(go easy on me, just for weekends)?

I just bought a ap1 last month. So sar so good....the only thing I hate about the car is the cheap sound system and plastic window=no defrost. AP2 has fix those problems........I highly suggest you get an ap2. Your other questions can be answer through the search button or google......just do your research first......unlike me, I went out there and got it....should of got an ap2.

Ahh my friend. Thats where igot you beat.

I know that 02-03(still ap1s) have glass windows, but im not sure about the defrost. And who cares. I got a garage.

But yes, i could search. But is the sound system really that bad?

And i just want a quick straight through answer, as i know if your obsessed over cars like i am, at least the ones i owned in the past, then the questions above should only take you second to answer for me!

hahhahaha hell no

2. What good aftermarket suspensions will actually make it handle better compared to what i remember hearing that after market suspension sometimes can make it handle worst than stock?

strut bar, x-brace and nice set of coilovers and shocks to say the least.

3. What good aftermarket exhausts are quiet and flow well? And does anyone got pics to show me?

stock, amuse euro dual, uhh... thats about it as far as not loud goes.

4. How much does a mugen hard top go for? How about their body kits? Mugen MF10s? Probably would get those, BTW this car i want to get is black.

all that you just asked for would probally run you around...8-10k all together. and thats if you get the parts used. 12-15k brand new.

5. What is good compression numbers across the board for each cylinder seeing how its 11:1 comp? 250ish?

250 is really good. 220 is average i believe.

6. How much do they weigh stock? And how much do they weigh if the back is gutted(go easy on me, just for weekends)?

ap1 2801lbs
ap2 2809lbs

Wow. So no bass? And man that was fast!

Hmm... how about hooking up an ipod? Is there a red and white connection of the stock headunit to run a IPOD? or is a aftermarket headunit needed.

How about high price aftermarket headers? Is there one like say, SMSP, Hytech, Etc.? I know pacman had one made by john at hytech a couple years back, but i never really heard of anyone else owning one?

ohhh booohoo

i bought a ap1 and i didn't know that they came with glass and a shity sound system.

it would be so much more worth it to pay and extra $6,000 for a glass window, and a slightly improved ap2 sound system.

you make me ashamed to be a fellow ap1 owner.

listen...

if you want to do anything nice sound wise...I dare you to find a sports car with a kick *** STOCK sound system. you wont. they dont exist.

an aftermarket sound system is not a necessity. the car does fine with out it, but if your really into your music, yeah your going to need to get a special enclosed sub box for the trunk, a nice component set for the doors, a nice speaker and sub amp, and of course, a nice headunit to manage it all.

the s2000 sound system is really basic. do not buy the car for it. have you test driven an S? that right there may solve all of your questions.

hytech and j's headers are the best, but they are pricey as you know. for the gains you get out of n/a, you might as well go boost. a nice turbo set up goes a LONG way on an S2000 with a good tune, of course.

Hehe tell me about it. Inline pro has some nasty s2k's. But NA is something that i like more. I got a k20r hatchback, and the only reason i am selling it, is because its too loud! And the sound system is shitty.

Tired of driving around a fast *** car, that is crappy to daily drive.

Its between a s2, or a G35. With the G its soooo nice, but at the same time a s2k is quick, and with the vast aftermarket i can make her sing all the way to 9k!

Decisions. Yea i might have to test one out.

But back to my main question, has anyone successfully connected a Ipod to the stock headunit, by say connecting it through where a cd changer would be hooked up?

Edit: And back to NA, i heard hondata recently released a way to crack their stock computers?

for being as "serious" as you are about cars shouldnt you know stock decks do not have "red and white" plugs on the back...

you can hook ipod up threw the antenna plug like they use to do with cd changers, or you can buy an fm transmitter that makes your ipod play on a certin radio station, you dont even need to take your deck out for that

What makes me so serious about cars? The idea that i like to buy quality parts?

LOL Thanks for all that info captian DICK.

Any little weight counts when it comes to motorsports buddy.

And yea im a newb when it comes to headunits and such. More about the go' parts then the show(I.C.E.)'. All though i like to have a nice bump, when driving around if you know what i mean.

And what do these random prices and codes correspond to? King Motorsports?

Also i am a great bargain hunter, so if overtime i most likely would find good prices on ****, Just want to know base prices on stuff for when i find it used.

I dunno though, i looked at pics of the OEM hardtop, and im still undecided if i like that or the Mugen better. Hmm...

But thanks for all this info gentlemen. I appreciate it.

i just changed my door speakers out and it made a world of difference....the stock speakers are like PAPER!

Go for the ap1 (00,01) though if you want a REAL sports car. BlackS2K knows whats up the plastic window is aight if you take care of it, and park in a garage.

let the battle begin
