crooked motor
ok my friend took his auto 94 Ls to a person he met to do a auto to manual swap, he gets the car back and the rear triangle bracket, where the bolt bolts into the tranny, the tranny is cracked there so you can see the threads. also the tranny mount is off about an inch. and the person put the bolt through the rubber, you know how there the hole the bolt is supposed to be in, then there 3 bigger holes in the mounts rubber. the bolt was though one of those holes. soo i figure its the wrong mount. btw he came to me to help fix. so we order a manual tranny mount, and its the same, so i slap it on the right way and the motor is tilted up on the tranny side, so the motor is crooked. im wondering which mounts are you supposed to use when swaping auto to stick? also any other possible reason why the motor is crooked. btw the motor is a 94 and the tranny is a 97 both b18b. i would take pics but the friend with the digi cam is out of state. TIA
Most likely the reason that the motor is sitting crooked is because of the upper transmission bracket that is welded to the framerail. On an automatic Integra or Civic the bracket (the upper tranny mount bolt to this peice) sit about an inch higher than the manual cars. Your friend will need to use a manual upper transmission mount and either order a upper manual braket from Acura or just go and cut it out of a manual 92+ Civic or 94+ integra and have it welded on in place of the automatic one. Your friend other solution is to order that upper tranny mount from Place Racing (its made for auto to manual gconversion)...I heard that the price is pretty high for the mount about $400-450. And tell that jackass that did the conversion to do it right or take the money back and beat his ***. Good luck.
