Hi, I am new here and this is the first time I own a Honda.

So we bought a new 2008 Accord coupe I4 EX with Automatic transmission.
We are happy with the car.
Just one thing, the transmission doesn't shift as smoothly as I expected. I can always feel the hesitation between shift during slow and normal acceleration. It becomes much less noticeable during hard accel. Also, there is some whining noise at low speed (below 20 mph).
Is this normal for a brand new car because it needs some time to "break-in"?

I haven't personally had experience with the new accords (need to go out and test drive them) but if you're dissatisfied with it, I'd strongly suggest heading back to the dealership, try out another accord with same setup and see how it goes.

 

I would also recommend going back to Honda and test another one to see if it feels the same.
I would like to know how this turns out since I'm considering a nwe accord as well. Keep us posted

 

Being new to Hondas, the transmission will feel a lot different from what you're probably used to. They tend to shift crisply and not slushy like other auto transmissions. Good advice from aries331, test drive a similar model and see if there really is a problem.

 

if the car is BRNAD NEW it will take a few hundred miles for the trans to break in. it should smooth it's self out..

 

I went to the dealer and tested another brand new car with 4 miles on the odometer. Same thing. So I am convinced it's not just my car. Maybe it takes some time to break in.
