what to do with my trans?
I have a S1 cable trans, with a leaky case near a sealing bolt/point, with pretty good internals 1st gear syncro about to go. not too bad yet. And I have a J1 cable trans with a 2-3 syncro grind at WOT redline shifts. sometimes 1st gear doesn't feel that it is engaged all the way. I'll hear a sound like a zip tie being tightened.
So I was thinking of swapping cases and pulling the S1 internals into the J1 case and swapping the best of both into the J1 case and doing a rebuilt while i'm at it. Or should I take my chances and go with another tranny and cross my fingers? I'm tired of pressing my luck with used trans. Tempted to buy a rebuild.
I currently have the car up on jackstands and have the transmission that was in my car out.
