Engine Rebuild Questions
Hello-
I was recently given a 90 DX that was in decent shape (255K miles, origonal motor (D15B2 - DPFI)). It has some minor engine problems (no compression in one cylinder, leaks oil into cumb. chamber, etc...), which is normal for an engine with over 200K miles. But the car has been taken care of throughout it's life so it is a great starting point. So I'm contemplating pulling the engine and rebuilding it to stock specs and converting to MPFI (for the main purpose of a reliable DD that gets great gas mileage). I know the D15B2 is not a fast motor by any means, but I would prefer to work with what I got, instead of getting another motor that I know nothing about.
(I apologize if some of these questions might seem alittle noobish, but this is my first actual "complete rebuild" and I'm unsure of a few things)
1) Would it be wise to go ahead and purchase new valves or work with the ones I currently have (I'm definitly replacing the guides and seals). I figured If I did the work myself, I could just buy new valves with the money I would save from paying someone to grind the old ones down.
2) On a typical "rebuild" of a Honda block, what all would I be looking at replacing? (I was thinking rings and bearings, but was unsure if new pistons would be required?) I'm sure it varies, and the best way to tell would be to take it to a machine shop to have it checked, but I'm just trying to get an idea of what most people replace.
3) Has anyone successfully re-wired their current engine harness (New wires, but keep the origonal connecters and re-pin them? I was thinking about doing this b/c a few of the wires are becoming brittle from the heat over the years, but if it would be too complicated or costy, I may just find one from a local junk yard in decent shape.
I'm pretty much looking for advice on what all would be smart to replace during this rebuild...
Thanks in advance!

1) Grinding the valves may be fine, if you're going with a daily driver and you're not getting into the 5000 rpm range I wouldn't be worried about reusing them as long as they're in good shape.
2) Rings, bearings, piston rings, all seals and gaskets.
3) It has been done if you search all forums for something like "building harness" but it is definitely a serious pain in the ***. You're going to have to get a donor harness for the new pins in swapping to MPFI.
