Default Part throttle VTEC "Hiccup"

Start off with the info first,

*No CEL's
*OBD0 B16a
*Fresh NGK BCPR6ES plugs & Honda wires, fresh oil change & filter, fresh fuel filter

There is annoying stumble/hiccup right as vtec is engaged under part throttle. It honestly feels like almost all power is lost, however, if you keep your foot into the throttle and get a few hundred rpm higher it runs fine. Under full throttle there is no hiccup or hesitation at all.

Any ideas?

The intake cam looked to be off by one tooth (exhaust cam straight up, intake cam had arrow slightly pointing to the left). I'll be fixing that later this week when the new timing belt, tensioner, water pump, and thermostat go in.

Not sure on ECU, previous owner thinks the whole swap came from some place in Maryland called "JE" and thinks the ecu may be chipped but doesn't know for sure.

I'm taking a guess but your vtec could be set to low due to unknown chipped ECU. Is this a new swap or exsisting motor that started to act up?
More info could always help,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Not a new swap, motors been in the car for somewhere around 2 years. Previous owner had purchased the car in late 06 with the swap already done. He had the car for a year but only drove it like 20 miles since he had a few other projects going at the same time.

You need to adjust/check your TPS. I had the same problem. I moved my tps sensor and that hiccup would change from light throttle to part throttle to full throttle(depending on where i adjusted it); it will be like that until you get it dialed in just right.

With my mods and no way of tuning I had to dial my tps into a spot where very very very light throttle the car does the hiccup but at part and full throttle it rips just fine.

Try it out, let us know.
