Transmission locator pins
Alright, over the thanksgiving break from work i put in my zc.I could not get the usdm si tranny dowl pins to line up with the jdm block...i was struggling doing it alone. So,,I just got i the bolts lined up and tighted away. All seems well, but i know they were engineered in there for a reason.I guess i have two questions..1. Can i get away with what i did,or is it out of alignment? "just lined up the bolts an installed it" -or- 2. Does honda make a shoulder bolt i could use to align my tranny ,if it is out of alignment.Anything would help

I can't see any reason why leaving out the dowel pins would cause any kind of issues. They are there mainly to assist with mating the engine and tranny together. More of a locator pin then anything. So long as all the bolt holes lined up correctly you shouldn't have any issues at all.

Really? How so? They have something to do with vibration dampning?

I think they are there for alignment than anything else.I run a cnc mill and had to re-align it due to a rookie crashing it.It had very similar pins in the pallet for alignment. But im not sure thats why i asked.
the dowls are there to not only line up the trans to the engine but also to keep the
transmition from twisting on the the engine. Without the dowls the transmition will be able to twist forward and back on the engine a small amount when under load.
This can over time cause the bell housing to crack.

I don't know why they didn't line up, prolly cause i was by myself and am blind.Should i just try to put them in, grin and bear the labor? It's built more for reliability than drag racing.Should i really be worried about it?
