Default How much to preload?

before setting up coilover (i have FF type 2's), how much should someone preload on springs before install?

i'm trying to see if this is the soloution for thisproblem?

note: springs do have some kind of load by hand, they arent loose or dangling when there is not load on assembly.

Default Re: How much to preload? (ZXVIIR)

I've been daily driving my GSR for nearly 2 years on Ground Control sleeves, with none of the springs preloaded. The weight of the car is adequate to keep the springs seated, and even when I lift the inside rear cornering, the swaybar keeps the lifted tire's spring seated.

Only issue is lowering the car off a jack, and only once has a spring ever failed to seat correctly on its own. Even then, I just pushed the fender a little side to side and the spring seated itself.

I don't think preload is really a concern. Thats an opinion though.

edit* If you're jumping the car, adn can get an entire axle off the pavement, then I suppose you might have to start worrying about the spring unseating. However, I think under such circumstances, you have bigger concerns than your springs reseating correctly.

The spring preload perches should be just snug under the spring to keep them in place when at full droop. No additional preload is necessary.
