How do I paint springs?

I aquired some Neuspeed Lowering springs,

about 4 years old...

and some surface rust on them...

so I want to make them appear stock...

what is the best way to paint them a flat black color?

is 600 grit and good start to prepin them for primer?

springs arent painted, it would crack. they are powdercoated or use some other sort of flexible coating
