I am having a problem with my DC5 mostly when it is cold. It Idles at 2k?? is it and idle air control valve? does the K20 have a problem like the older honda engines?

It should idle high when the engine is cold...

it's suppose to idle high when cold and then when it warms up idle at around 5-700.

if idling starts bouncing up and down then that's where the IACV needs to be cleaned or checked out.

It should idle high when cold, but I have never seen it at 2K. Usually it should be exactly 1500 (1600 with the clutch pressed in)

Mine always idles when cold at 2k. but then after a few moments it goes down to about 800 or so. Or right after you start it you can give it alil rev and I mean a little rev but then it should drop alil. Either way its normal.

yea it should def rev high when cold but if the problem persists even when warm, check your throttle body. i actually saw a dsm (i know off topic) it's throttle was broken. and when he turned it on it would automatically rev to 4k. not bad for launching tho.

uhhh... my k20r idles at 2K when cold and still stays at 1K when warm.

After reading these comments and other k20 owners saying it should be at 700-800, i'm starting to freak out
