underdrive crank pulley
I am putting an underdrive crank pulley on my 99 prelude sh, H22a4 can anyone tell me the part number for the new belts that I will need since the pulley is smaller than the stock one. Also if someone could shed some light on the fact that the stock one looks like it has splines on the inside of it and the underdrive does not?
This is what my paperwork for my underdrive said. Although I had to go about 1.5 to 2" smaller on both of them, I guess because I didn't use the Gates belts.
New Belt Sizes (The belt sizes used may vary slightly. We recommend the use of Gates Brand belts, belt sizing varies slightly among belt manufacturers)
• Alternator & A/C Belt: 1994-01 Accord 2.2/2.3L (including VTEC) Use Gates K060408 (41.5” or 1055MM).
1993-01 Prelude 2.2L DOHC Use Gates K060400 (40.75” or 1035MM).
• Alternator Belt w/o A/C: 1994-98 Accord, 1994-99 Prelude 2.2L Use Gates K060345 (35 1/*” or 890MM).
• Power Steering Belt: Use Gates K040410 (41 5/*” or 1060MM), alternate size use K040395 (40.25” or 1020MM).

Just to throw this out there, unless you spent some money and got a good underdrive I would probably stay with the stock pulley. I bought a cheap E Bay pulley because I was desperate and I totally regret it. I am looking to buy a stock one now.

If it's a generic eBay pulley then throw it away.
You don't need splines, but there is a keyway for a Woodruff key that keeps the pulley from spinning. If you don't have that keyway then definately throw it away

Ha, yes, if there is no keyway then you should send it back to the seller with a bomb attached.

If the pulley doesn't have a keyway, the you can't use the pulley unless you machine a keyway into it.

He mistook what we were calling the keyway for the woodruff.
To clarify, the Woodruff key is the 1.5" or so long piece of metal that holds the pulley in place.
The Keyway is the slot the Woodruff key rides in.

Megan is a pretty good brand, but definately an eBay special. I would think you'd be fine with it...I have a few Megan parts on my Prelude and they are

This sounds like an opinon. I have UR pulley no problems. The diffrence in a UR Pulley and OEM is UR is smaller lighter and doesnt have that rubber harmonic damper in the pulley. The OEM's are heaveier, bigger, and have the harmonic dampner rubber insert things on them. What it does is absorb shock to the crankshaft.
I have an Unorthodox Racing (smaller than stock diam.)under drive crank pulley.and its nice! I have a/c delete so my belts are different sizes than those with a/c.. i have had to buy cheaper parts before. i go with oem stuff most of the time. and some things autozone has. but if your gonna spend more than oem price on something you might as well spend a little more and get a little quality.
my opinion.

Go away. Of course a fluidamper is better, but I have had a UR pulley for almost 5 years with no problems.
