i just bought a 91 civic and when i try to close the trunk , it wont latch .

what do i do ?

 

im guessing u have a sedan. Is the latch siezed open? Can you move it with your hand? Is the cable keeping it stuck open? Or is the key turned and stuck? Worse comes to worse pick up a new latch assembly from the junkyard if yours is siezed. Try spraying WD-40 all in there to see if it loosens up.

 

This has happened on both my sedans. I had to move the striker on the chassis ( thing that the latch grasps to) for it to close correctly.
