blinking d4 light
Have read a few threads and have tried a couple of things. Had diagnostic done during repair of an unrelated problem, said TCM/TCU. got one, replaced it...still blinking light. Saw how to check shift solenoid, checked it. It's clicking, according to what I've read, thats what its supposed to do. HOWEVER, my d4 light was NOT blinking while I was checking the shift solenoid. Should I only check it while the d4 is blinking? What Im getting at is could the solenoid be bad some of the time...assuming yes since the d4 light only blinks some of the time. Tail lights and horn all work fine, fuses good. And where can I find a new/used shift solenoid! I can't find it listed on any of the parts sites I've got saved. AND one more thing, my old TCM may have been fine but I have no way to know. Any ideas on how to find out if my old one is still good and it was just the solenoid this whole time? I still have time in my warranty to return the 'new' tcm.

Thanks for answers to any of the million questions I just asked.

ETA when I pulled the code using a jump wire by the tcm it gave 7 blinks, when I looked it up I got that it was the shift solenoid (and I'm assuming this is the one next to the shifter) am I interpreting this code correctly?

The D4 light should blink a code. It sure would help to know what the code is? Here's a link, if you don't know how to get the codes.

thanks, edited my post to add that information. I realized that might be helpful after I'd already posted.
We're posting at the same time! I used that page to learn how to pull the code and get the read out. Thanks for the link though.

The code, from what I see is the shift solenoid valve A (open) which is on the transmission, and not the lock cylinder in the console. Two totally different parts. This is a link that will show you where and what the shift solenoid is. Good luck.
