no vtec???
i have a d16z6 with obd0 converted to obd1 and vtec isn't working at all and cant figure out why. just shimmed the oil pump to make sure it wasn't oil pressure. tried switching solenoid and hard wiring vtec. tried switching ecus that we know work.

Speed pulser in the cluster is the most likely cause I have seen for this. the speedo will still work since it's mechanically driven by a cable but the pulser won't send a signal to the ECU which in turn kills vtec engagement, and all w/o any CEL codes too. No way to check it really, just try a known good speedo or cluster and see what that does for you.

didnt try the light but thats a good idea. we are using whatever ecu came with the car. we tried a gsr, h22, hondata and another one to see if any of them would work. and they didnt. ill try that light idea though.
