Default Any feedbacks on Earl Schieb or Maaco?

i have a 1996 black honda civic with the original black paint on it. Time for a paint job, just price shopping cuz im broke.

Earl Schieb seems to have very reasonable prices, anyone have any pics of their cars being painted by this company? or any stories, good or bad, from this company? Or how about Maaco?

Keep in mind I dont want show quality, just want it to be shinin again.

Thanks!

My sister had her car painted at Earl. Im not sure what package she went with other than a 5 year warranty and 1 Free respray. It looks descent for $600 I'll try and get a picture.

Earl Schieb? I've never heard of them but just do some research on the maaco you plan on going to. The quality varies by place.

ya i got a paint job on my old sol. got the $1000 one.. wasn't really happy with it. they suck as masking off weather stripping, wheel wells, exhaust, and a little bit on the windows. also it doesn't stay that fresh for to long. i would of rather spent a little more and been satisfied.

Spent 1K on a MAACO job in montclair, ca. SS/ with extra clear (I know I should of went with the BC/CC but hey im a student on a budget)

Just make sure to be very clear of what you want done. Make them write everything on the estimate so, everything is in writing. People will also tell you to do your own prepping as MAACO can be a little careless with overspray and so forth.

Good luck !

it's not worth it, save up and go to a shop that has a lifetime warranty not just 4-5 years. and if 1 free respray is included under warranty, what would that tell you about paint quality? they need two tries to paint your car...haha not to mention painters don't get paid for comebacks so don't expect much out of your second paint job.

It all depends on how long you are going to keep your car. If not more than 5 years than go for it, but if longer you might you want to invest in a better paint job.

MAACO depends on location because it is a FRANCHISE which means individually owned so, don't base it off one person's feedback on low-quality paint jobs. You will get mixed reviews. Most people complain about poor quality from MAACO because they buy the $299 special and expect it to be showroom quality. Im not saying MAACO is showroom quality , but from my experience I would recommend them. Just be CLEAR of what you want done.

Just go for the BC/CC package or even SS/w extra CC (if you're on a tight budget).

Good luck!

They're horrible. I'd recommend Maaco over Schieb.

Your paint will literally wash off the car in less than a year.

They'll respray it for you....but a year later you'll be in the same boat

I don't know what type of paint they use, but it's horrible. It turns into a chalky consistency after a few months and rubs off on your hands and then will wash off in the rain or when you're washing your car lol.

You will be getting a SS paintjob if you go with that package. If you plan on keeping the car, I would get something alittle better. It won't last as long as the base/clear.

The presidential is the 2nd to the lowest they offer. I would go with the supreme (SS)at least and if you have some extra cash tell them to add extra coats of clear (So technically my car is SS/extra clear). This is what I did and my car turned out great. (pics above)

I believe the jams are $50 each...or $100...Just bargain with them.

And obviously the signature is the best cause its BC/CC.

PREP... is key to a successful paint job as well. Make sure to emphasize that when they are giving you the estimate. Everything should be in writing of what you want done.

Good luck

I think that they lied to you, I have never shot any clear over a SS at Maaco. If the customer pays for it we put an integrated clear in with the last batch of color. Never put clear on top though. Maybe some Maaco's do but not this one

To bad your not closer to me, I would shoot your car for around the same price as Maaco using PPG materials (base/clear)

damn that sucks. how long do you think the presidential will last if i keep good care of it? also you can't shoot clear over a single stage can you.

Is there anyway you can tell from the above pics? if they did cause that would suck or will I find out in the near future with peeling, fading etc? I payed 1K for there supreme package and extra clear.

And if they did would that be a bad or good thing...Now Im all paranoid

On the estimate papers, they circled "full clear coat" and not the integrated. Im hoping they didnt lie to me especially when Ive gone there 2 or 3 times already.

What do you mean by putting integrated clear after the last batch of color?
