B18C5 Long Runner Intake Manifold??
So i was wondering if it would be possible to put/fabricate a Long Runner intake manifold on a Type R and make some good low end power. Since as we all know a long runner intake manifold is meant for torque. Just wondering if this would hold true for the Type R? Or if it would be benefical.
Your two best options would be the Skunk pro manifold or the Edelbrock Performer X manifold. Longest runners available to fit the space available and have proven to make power/good torque (performer X especially).
it possible to fabricate something that would go over top of the valve cover like VW VR6's. I would that be at all good or not
I highly doubt you'd have the hood clearance needed to do it unless you fabricated a new hood with a big hump in the middle like you see on domestic drag cars. Anything's possible I guess but the key is not to look at increasing power in just one place. Trying to fab up a new IM that would make more torque would waste more of your time, money and resources than it would to do something like increase the stroke of the motor you're building and gain more torque that way.
While it is possible to build anything. I don't see how this would benefit this motor. If you want low end power, why buy a honda? This motor was designed to produce high power at high rpms. What you want to do is counter to that notion.

You will severly limit hp in vtec with usually long runners. See the intake mainfold test.
