Default Spark Plug Help

I've been using 9-series plugs and I want to switch to NGK Iridium plugs. What is the heat range on those? I need it to be colder than the ones I'm using now. Or...is there something else that is really good for high boost turbo?

Thanks!

Most people use Iridium plugs when they use a COP ignition system....

What's wrong with NGK 9 copper plugs?

I forget if it's IK27 or IK31 for Iridium 9's....

I really need it to be colder. I heard that Iridium is better. Thoughts?

I do have a COP ignition system. Should I be using Iridium plugs then?

Colder than 9s? I'm pretty interested in your setup. Give us some info, if you don't mind. Just curious cuz we run nines and haven't really seen the need for anything colder.

Yes you should be using Iridium plugs....

You don't have any noise interferance issues with electronics?

Be prepared to spend about $10-13 a plug.

The only reason for using iridium plugs is for the CBR coils because the tip has to unscrew. If you have plug wires or any coil that doesn't need the tip to unscrew, the regular copper core NGK's are fine. And i run colder than 9's.

NGK Iridium part# BKR9EIX stock# 2663....heat range 9. Be careful gaping those things...you will break the Iridium tips off if your not extremely careful. How much power are you making to want to run colder than 9 plugs?

I make a 1000hp.

What are you using then Tony?

I used to use the 9 series plug and put it on the lathe and grind the tip off so that it will fit the CBR. But it takes too much time and it gets to be expensive. Thoughts on something that would cost less?

Thanks!

Right. It's not that I can't figure out what plugs to use. I'm just looking for something that works and is cost efficient.

When I use the NGK Iridium...it seems like I have to change them out less often than the regular V power racing NGK's but at the cost of 10X more than the V power racing...I stick with the regular V power because it is more cost efficient.

My roommate uses one of those for his Harley race bike stuff & swears by it. I personally didn't believe it but his race bike runs flawlessly.

Rota mentioned it to me about 2 months ago and I thought it was the most retarded thing I have ever heard.... but when you pay $10-14 a plug (Iridiums) then it may be worth it.
