so yeah, i broke my knock sensor and i need to replace it. I did some searching but havent found anyone say explicitly that any knock sensor will work. help a brother out!

 

What are you planning on using?

All knock sensors that I know of work based on the same concept. A piezoelectronic vibration pickup.

But, I'm just not sure the output would be the same with some other sensor from another manufacturer.

All Honda sensors should be interchangeable, just make sure you get an obd2 one or your connector won't fit on.

 

They all generate between 0 and 5V and are the same except for socket size and connector.

 

i was a little vague in my question. ive got an H22A4 and i broke the knock sensor replacing my manifold yesterday. I was under the impression that H, B and D series OBD2 knock sensors are all the same size?

im going to hit the junkyard early tomorrow and see if they have one, othewise ill be going to honda for it . I always heard people say to be careful around the knock sensor, i just never knew how careful. i just doesnt make sense that I need to have the knock sensor connector off to get to that mani stud on the #3 runner when its so fragile. i was just trying to disconnect the connector and it snapped off .

I'm not fully sure on this, but I can almost guarantee they are. It would be interesting to cross-ref honda PNs on this and see.

Well, the search turned up negative, but I did notice that the prelude sensor is a good $80 more expensive than the other ones.

yeah, i saw $110 on majestic hondas website. and i guess my girlfriends dad knows someone that works at the local honda that can get me stuff for cost + 10% so hopefully i can get that deal working.

Honestly I'm not sure about the Honda v6's but the 4 cylinders are all interchangeable, except for the connector which can be changed over. i've personally used obd2 ks's with an obd1 computer and now I'm using a b16 ks. They break so easily . I stopped torquing them and just put a drop of blue threadlock and tighten it in by hand.

 

i have never paid attention to what car the sensor came from, i know my wifes lude (a 99) currently has a 96 civic knock sensor on it and it has worked fine for years. the only difference i can see if square versus round plug.

 

order one for a 2002 Acura 3.2 I just put that one on a JDM H22A. I had to modify the wiring but if you are OBD2 it should plug right in. only cost 24.99 at O'Reillys

 

no o'reilly's here . but maybe its worth at least checking at discount auto or someplace.

Well, the part numbers are all different. I got lucky enough to only break one that first time, and I had the h23 one as a backup.
