A friend of mine owns an S2k and the other day some weird stuff started happening.

1. His aftermarket radio stopped working (the CD eject still works)
2. The 12v power plug stopped working
3. All of the dash lights are fine, except the hot/cold **** doesn't light up and the defroster mode on the temperature mode **** is slightly faded.
4. No other electrical issues and everything else works perfectly.

I'm going to look at the fuses today; but unfortunately my knowledge of electrical is VERY low. Supposing the fuses are fine, what would be the next step?

I would say you blew a fuse somewhere. If that's not it, look into the headunit/wiring around that area.

 

if you have any function out of your radio at all it's not a fuse. fading lights could just be bulbs, again that's not going to be a fuse either since you have some power coming through. blown fused stop all current from passing through. double check your radio wiring, (if you have an aftermarket radio) you need 12v on the yellow wire for constant and 12v on the red wire when your car is on for accessory. those two are the key wires powering your radio
