how would i take the clear coat off my rims?? any ideas...with out giving it a shitty texture

 

Most powdercoating places recommend you sandblast them before the coating process.

It's not absolutely necessary, but it lasts the longest that way.

 

most powdercoaters offer a sand blasting option, it costs more, but its worth it..

 

this is my boys rims. he had got them sand blasted and then powder coated about 10 months ago and they still look dope!

 

can i do the sandblasting myself?

 

the shop you take it to get powder coated they should be able to sandblast it for you

well i have access to a sandblaster...so yeah

 

Go to your local autoparts or hardware store and get Aircraft Grade stripper. It comes in a spray can and it will take off all the paint and clearcoat down to the baremetal. It's a lot easier than trying to sand off your old finish.
