Hello all. I'm getting ready to do some work on the car over the winter and would like to remove the clearcoat from the lip of my rims and polish it. I have a stain on one of my rims where something ate through the clear coat and stained the rim. I have read through the posts but before I start this project I thought i'd get a second opinion.

If you are going to remove the clearcoat and wetsand/polish your rims, there should be no issue as the wetsanding should take off whatver that stain is.

My rims looked way worse than that when I decided to polish them up, and as long as you wetsand down to fresh metal and polish it up following the steps in the various FAQ's here, you'll be fine.
