Default Electrical Problem? Car Shut Off

I was driving down the highway in my 99 Accord LX when all of a sudden like a scene from Transformers, the car shut itself off as if I pulled the key out. The key light was flashing to indicate removal as I was coasting and trying to make sense of what happened. The car did not lock up and I was able to stop and pull off to the side. It took 2 attempts to restart the car then it drove fine. I drove it this morning to work to see if there were any lasting effects and it seemed all good.

Has anyone ever experienced this problem? I only have an aftermarket headunit installed that will soon be taken out of the equation. The other thing is that when I initially start the car, I have to let it prime before turning the key completely, otherwise, it won't turn over.

Thanks in advance.........

So you pulled the key out and it quit running? In that case, I would assume the immobilizer shut down the ECU.

but first, check to see if there are sparks in your spark plug wire, if not it could be something with the distributor
