axle keeps popping out of the transmission!?!
I'm looking 2 buy a '90 integra. I'm told that the transmission was replaced with a used 1 a few months ago. and they say that the passenger side axle keeps popping out of the tranny!?! what would cause that 2 happen?

Also, do u guys know if all the models(rs, ls, gs) use the same axle? and where is the I.D. # on the transmission? so I'll know which transmission is in the car.

if it don't have a vin on the trans you prob wont be able to tell unless you open it up and look at the gears....
also are they sure the axle is all the way in and the axle nut is tightened and staked?
all b series manual cable axles are the same

yeah the axle has a little metal ring in the slit maybe 1/4" up on the splines where it goes into the trans. make sure that is there

I've seen this problem before. If the c clips on the axles are fine, it could be a worn out differential. At that point, it wouldn't matter how new and great your clips are on the axles, there simply isn't anything left for it to clip onto inside the differential.
Well I went and looked the integra over today. I went thru the gears with the clutch pushed in. And the transmission went in each gear fine. I put it in 1st and tried 2 drive. And I heard metal grinding/metal clatter! I then put it in 2nd and tried 2 drive. And again I heard grinding/metal clatter! So I had my buddy jump into the car and do the samething I did. So I could hear/see what was going on... And I noticed the passenger side axle. The boot nearest 2 the tranny. Was tring 2 spin. But it seemed like the "joint" in that boot was "busted"!!! And thats where the noise was coming from... So I'm assuming that the axle is busted. And thats whats the problem with the car!?!
I have a brand new '90 integra axle sitting in the box still in my garage(4 like 2-3 years now!). Where when I had my B-series swaps in my crx's way back when. I used 2 bring that axle along with me 2 the track. Just in case I needed it....
So I should be safe with my axle I have 2 replace the broken 1 on the integra right?
Oh, I got the code off of the tranny. Which is: S1-1006592. And with the search I did on that. It's either an '90-'91 JDM integra transmission or an '90-'93 USDM integra transmission!?!
So, anyway I bought the integra 4 $650.00 bucks. With the way it sits. It's got 126207 miles on it. It used 2 be white. But now is a metallic blue. The car has min. rust bubbles on each side of the rear quarters. And the only other thing I know as of now that doesn't work is the moonroof. It doesn't want 2 open. It moves an inch or 2 then stops. And it doesn't want 2 close all the way.
