Damn Spark plug wire keeps popping ouT!?
so heres the story...everytime i drive normal it drives fine, once and a while when i tend to give it full throttle and go through my gears one of the spark plug wires of the dizzy side pops out and makes it run on 3 cyl.
For example the other day at the track i took off and went from 1st to second and in between my shift the spark plug wire popped off
Any advise why this is happening? funny thing is its ALWAYS the same wire that comes out
Wires are MSD 8.5

Check your spark plugs. It happened in my old daily and slightly tightening the spark plugs stopped the wires from popping out
Also what spark plugs are you runnning?

If your spark plug is lose, compression from the piston will leak through pushing the spark plug wire up.
If you would like a visual representation, pull your plugs and wires and then turn the crank counter-clockwise by hand. You will see what I mean

yea i understand that but the plug that pops out is the wire that plugs into the distributor so there is no compression coming out from there
When you plug it back in how tight is it compared to the other three? Some wires let you slide the boot up and down the wire. If yours are like that then slide it up the wire to make sure that the contacts are as far in to the cap as they can go.
i have had this problem before with MSD wires and i know that mgags7 has had the same problem before. His fix was to use cable ties on the boots of the wires. My fix was to get NGK wires, lol.

Yeah, I eventually converted to your fix. NGK wires are the best out there hands down.

pull the wire off, and use a lg. screwdriver to expand the connector where it goes into the dist. It will make the connection fit tighter. I had to do this on my ol mazda pickup, and haven't had it come off since
