Default Tires for the new Slips?

Okay sooo Im finally getting away from my huge 18in. Falkens that I bought for my lude when I was 15. Two years later...Today I bought Flat Black Rota Slipstreams in 4x114.3 16x7 with a 40 offset. I ordered them from http://www.machiii.net. Now I just need to get some tires and I just wanted to check with you guys to see if this wheel/tire combo sounded good before buying stuff. I'm looking to go with 205/50-16...any thoughts? Also the Dunlop Direzza DZ101's fit my into my price range and seem to be pretty good. Thanks guys

This is what it looks like now

That size sounds pretty good to me. I have had some BF Goodrich g-force sports for the past 4 years or and they have been pretty good tires for street use.

Also remove those window stickers

Sup guy, yeah I like that you you are down sizing your wheels, its gonna look so much better I swear. You might need to lower it though. But anywho back to the tires...I think for good budget tires you should look into getting a set of Nitto Neo Gens. I have had them on my 5th gen and they have been pretty satisfactory. I love the wat they hold on coners and the best part is...they won't break the bank. good luck.

Whats your price range for tires? Kumho SPT are great tires for dry and moderate wet traction, but no snow traction. Did u need a all-season or summer tire?

For reasonably cheap but good the SPT seems to do well. Apparently the DZ101 isn't bad either, if a little soft.

For expensive but better the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 is in that size. I have these currently.

For more expensive yet (on a $ per mile basis, not on a per tire basis), but even stickier tire solution there's the Falken Azenis RT615 in 215/45R16 or the Hankook Ventus RS2 in a few sizes.

Search around Wheel and Tire for thoughts, it's probably the most useful forum for actual information (of any kind) on H-T.

+1 for the Hankooks, had for 2 seasons, and minimal wear, but don't even think about driving them in the snow.

im not sure if these tires come in your size, but they were offered for 205/40/16 i'm currently on very nice budget tires, General Exclaim UHP these tires grip great in dry/wet. Goodyear Eagle F1's grip like no other street tires, but are expensive. if it doesn't snow in your area, or u dont drive in snow, u should get summer tires.

There are many factors that decide what kind of tires you need.
First, what kind of driving will these tires see?
Daily Street, Spirited Driving, Summer, Winter, Rain, Snow?

High Performance Summer Tires are not made to drive in/on/through Snow.
You're in PA, so I'm assuming it snows there?

I just bought new tires for my new wheels. I'm in AZ, and it hardly rains here, much less snow.. So I got BFGoodrich KDW 2's.
http://mlbz521.scorchgaming.co...l.JPG

So far, I love them.. Just went for a drive with a couple of my roomies and had a little fun in an empty parking lot testing them out.. They're not broken in yet, but they seem pretty darn good. Also, no freakin' wheel hop at all.. Slightly revved take off up to WOT to Redline and not a single hop, jump, bounce, jolt. It was so nice..

So first, you need to figure out what type of tire you want. Then how long you want/expect your investment to last. And how much you want to invest.
Look at the options in the correct or near correct tire size for your car, see what you like best. Read some reviews on the tires, as the Wheel and Tire thread here.

Also http://www.DiscountTireDirect.com had a special a few weeks ago for $100 of a set of wheels or tire with free shipping. There's a rumor that they're going to do it again for the two days after Thanksgiving, but I dunno.. Either way, they still do free shipping, so check them out. If they do another sell, I might end up getting another set of tires for my stock wheels. So I can refinish my new wheels sooner.

I didn't say anything about a track only car...?

I asked what type of driving would he be doing in the car? What sounds more like his driving style. That will decide what kind of tire and what price range he'll be looking at.. If he needs an average daily beater tire, or a more high performance tire for spirited driving.

^^^ try advan 032R
the noise is so loud at a certain speed than the whole car resonates and vibrates

i personally would sacrifice low noise for better response...and of course grip

Just about every mfr. should be fine with a 205/50R16 tire on a 7" wide wheel.

225/45R16 is another possibility, but I don't know how well they would clear the fenders on a +40 offset wheel. They might, though.

215/45R16 would also be okay. In terms of diameter they're all clustered around 205/55R15 which should be your "stock" size. Within 1% or so.

225/45/16 is .02% bigger then the stock tires, it fits very nicely.

For an all-season I've heard good things about the Eagle F-1 all season tire they just came out with.
