How are we supposed to know what the problem is? You didn't even tell us what make and model car you have.

Throwing any check engine lights?

You need a few basic requirements for VTEC to engage.
> Coolant must be near standard operating temperature (190*), if your ECT (electronic coolant temperature sensor) is broken, your ECU won't read this, and VTEC won't engage.
> Oil pressure must be nominal, you can check that with an oil pressure gauge, I'm not sure what it's supposed to be but it'll tell you in the service manual. If it matters that much you can PM me your year, model, and trim, and I can look it up for you. Also, it's important to note, there's an oil screen on the VTEC solenoid, if that screen gets clogged up VTEC won't engage (it won't detect sufficient oil pressure) and you won't even get a CEL.
> You must not be in neutral, VTEC won't engage in neutral.
> You must be going over like 15mph
> All VTEC systems (such as the spool solenoid) must check out okay.

I think that's all the computer's requirements for VTEC to engage. I might be missing one, though.

the car starts and runs perfect without vtec... just its slower on high end power.. vtec is preformance has nothing to do with whether or not it will start.. check what syndicate said... that sounds pretty close

the grounds on the t stat housing have to do with every sensor ground on the engine. it will cause the ecu not to power up, and if loose can wreak havoc.

i didnt say that vtec will cause a car not to start.

I just assumed since it worked before you messed with something that is directly connected to the cts and now it doesnt, that would be the first place I would check
