OEM 1998 Civic coupe Lip Kit
So after five years of searching, I finally have put this lip kit together.
This makes my car the first car I've ever seen with this lip kit.
I've never seen a front lip fit so well. In the pics, it has no hardware on at all.
The front lip was bought by me BNIB (box is leaning against the lawn mower in the pics). It was originally Cypress Green Pearl. The rear lip is used and unfortunately the previous owner painted it Electron Blue Pearl and snapped off all of the brackets that hold it to the bumper so it would fit on the wrong rear bumper. The rear lip was originally Taffeta White.
A little background on this lip kit: It was only available in the US for the 1998 DX, EX and HX coupes. Though the kit was sold in other countries, those are the only trims it came on in the US. It only came in five colors (green, white, silver, black and red).
I have had my lips repainted to match my car (twice - first job didn't match at all), but it took about two months more to find the rear lip bracket diagrams. Now I'm getting quotes for the eight little brackets to be made, and I'm being told "a couple hundred dollars" to get them made.
Oh, and the bumper and lip color is off in these pics because this is after the first paint job, but before the second paint job.
So this will at least give you an idea of how the front lip looks painted. I'm sure everyone has seen the OEM '98 rear lip in the past. I have photos of it too, but it doesn't mount right right now since I have no brackets. So if anyone wants to see pics of a blue rear lip on a red car, I'll post it.

Thanks for all the compliments.

This lip is uber rare and I loved it. Looks great on your car. There is a white coupe rolling around my town with the full kit and its torn to ****.
Edit...And yes this lip fits like a dream, just pops on and stays put. </TD></TR></TABLE>
I think I heard that his girl gave the lip to her friend. It's on her car, but I hear it might not have long since she has a love/hate relationship with curbs.
I actually tried to get a hold of your lip before.
I also almost bought one from a friend overseas, but shipping and customs would have been a pain. Been through that before already.
Might as well post this up too. This is the image that's in the 1998 Honda Accessories manual. Sorry, it was difficult to get a photo without it looking too shiny. This is the best I could do.

Yeah that lip can catch those parking blocks if you're not careful. I have a Bajillion pics of my old car with the front lip, never scored the rear.

Here's some more pics of the lip kits.
Overseas the kit was sold as the Sport lip kit, and it was available for the hatchbacks. The hatches have a similar rear lip that the coupes have.
Oh, and the front lips of course are interchangeable between 1996 - 1998 coupes, hatches and sedans. The USDM rear lip fits both the 1996-1998 coupes and the 1996-1998 sedans, even though it originally was just an option for the 1998 coupes.
It looks like several of these cars have lip that have been repainted incorrectly (the trim/seal is painted), but it still gives you a decent idea of how it was look in different colors. I'll leave it to sk8shorty to post up the pic of his rear lip.
Here is my friend's EK3 with the kit.

Here's another hatch from Sweden.

And some more pics of random cars.

This is the file photo used in the 1998 Accessories Brochure. It goes witht eh photo I took that was posted above. I'll have to remember to post the scanned image once I scan it.

I wonder why nobody has tried to replicate them for mass production</TD></TR></TABLE>
They're just not as sought after as the other lips ('99-'00 aka "Si", CTR and SiR), and so companies don't think there's a lot of money in making replicas of them. Not to mention that a company would have to probably wait to get one or buy one overseas to replicate it, and that apparently is too much to replicate a lip that they don't even know would be a money maker.
And thanks mods.

Yeah, unfortunately it came to that.
I think you said something along the lines of um... LOVING it and wanting a '96-'98 front... yeah.
Seriously, I think you said something more like that it wasn't your style, but whatever floats my boat. You said some other stuff, but off hand I can't recall what.

I see, I was trying to figure out if it had been posted twice or if I had replied on another site. Anyway, yea I'm honestly not too into the 96-98 Aero. I prefer the cleaner "less bulky" 99-00. However, once again, as long as you like it.

Yeah, he told me I'm the one who told him about the lip in the first place. I remember we were talking about it way back and I think he said he had screw holes in his front bumper, so maybe his car originally had the full kit. I wonder what happened to his original front lip?
Too bad we don't live closer together. It'd definitely make for an interesting photo shoot. Set a few shots up like reflections or something.

I actually like how chunky this lip is. It's one of the things that drew me to it. lol I'd always liked the '98 rear lip, but didn't like that the CTR front lip didn't flare out enough to match the rear lip.
When I first saw the photos of the '98 front lip, it looked big... but finally seeing it in person... it's much bigger than I expected.

sure these are still available her in uk from honda, surely would have been easier for you to just import them to u.s
as for fitting kit, you have to buy that seperate from honda and shouldnt cost that much, im guessin $20 in u.s, probably little more here in u.k as we get raped by honda stealerships

Nah man, it's not that she doesn't have the hardware kit .... the brackets that are not sold separately are missing. We fabbed up some brackets this afternoon and picked up some hardware though. Should be all on tomorrow.

The front lips are sold in Europe I know, but the only rear I know of being sold there is for the hatch. I can look later and try to confirm my suspicions.
And we don't need the hardware kit. I needed the actual brackets that are a part of the lip and sold as a part of the lip. They are not available for sale separately.

Keep an eye open in the MarketPlace. They're not common, but there not totally unheard of seeing for sale. They pop up every few months.

[QUOTE=NOFX]Here's some more pics of the lip kits.

Here is my friend's EK3 with the kit.

please!!!! tell me where i can get this rear lip for my car!! anything will help!! so many go for the type R one, i want something a little different.
