okay, i let the car run for a little while to warm up then shut it off, waited a minute and went to restart it and it just cranked, took the key completely out and waited a few seconds then tried to restart, and it starts fine without any hesitation...does this sound characteristic of any known problems?
I'm pretty new to EF's so I don't know the little quirks yet.

this happens to my 4 door once in a while..i figured its the main relay when it gets warm...i deliver pizza so my car is always on, but when you tried startin it, did it crank or just do nothing? see if the main relay clicks after its warmed up

 

It cranks and acts like it wants to start and the main relay does click.

 

see if its the distributor..because if you have a good main relay, fuel, and spark it should be good
