Default Just bought a 98 SH. Need advice on modding.

Hi, I just bought a 1998 SH over the weekend and was thinking about modding it some time soon. What are things I should mod first to get the most out of my money? The car has 63,000 miles on it; will that have an effect on the performance of the car if I decide to put a turbo in it? Any advice is welcome. Thanks.

I/H/E, cams, etc. But don't turbo it!

Mike - who is counting down to engine failure.

I agree don't turbo it... You should have gotten the base if you want turbo. Look for a cai, pulleys, headers and an exhaust first. If you still want more power theres jrsc, nitrous (I had a 75shot felt great), or a complete n/a build up. <-- crower or JUN, I heard the JUN setup made over 100+hp iver stock..

Honestly to get the most for you buck on a Prelude I'd just do suspension related things.

If I could do it all over I probably would have just bought suspension and wheels and tires. Then leave it stock or save up for a turbo kit.

Aite thanks for the replies guys. I think I'm gonna do that I/H/E stuff along with light weight 17" rims with better tires. I'll see how far that gets me. Performance should be reasonable with those mods right?

just curious, how much did you get it for? i just snagged a 98 base w/ roughly the same mileage, 71k, so i'd be interested in seeing the price premium of an SH.

:t: I agree totally. Start with tires.

Besides aftermarket upgrades/improvements, there's all the basic maintainence stuff that should be done. With 60,000+ miles, there's a good chance there are some items that could be performing better.

air/oil/fuel filter
new cap/rotor/wires/sparkplugs
clean the injectors
check O2 sensors
valve adjustment
check throttle cable

Yeah, the previous owner already did maintenance on the car before I bought it, so I don't think that'll be a prob. Key, I got the car for $15,500, which is actually a little high according to edmunds.com, but the car is in prestine condition, so I thought that it was a decent price to pay. How much did you get your base for?

it was 12k. awesome condition too, still had that fresh leather smell :D the int's perfect, the ext i'm sure isn't as great as yours though.

there's a dime-sized ding behind the driver's side door that i need to get done, and the bottom front's a little scrapped from when his wife drove it. the tires are new but the wheels are pretty scathed up, i was planning on eventually getting a new set anyway though so it didn't seem like a huge deal to me.

HAHA - I got my 2001 SH w. 25,000 miles for $16,043.29.

I'm just joking around guys. But seriously though, lets say we adjust the anti-roll bars, would that somehow affect ATTS since the front anti roll bar on an SH is smaller than that on a base model? I've been trying to figure this one out for months but I can't find any concrete information on how anti-roll bars would affect ATTS. As for springs and shocks, they shouldn't affect ATTS, right?

light weight 17" rims
You'd be better off w/ solid iron 15"s
