You would be better off paying to have that repaired unless you prefer it to be untouched by a little glaze putty. You'd be paying much more to buy a new bumper and get it painted than to just have it repaired. It's your call though. I know some people prefer to not have any body work on their car. The work required would be minimal though.
its not as bad as you made it sound, just get it fixed

yea, get some red lead (glaze putty) and fix that yourself man. like five months ago, someone hit my accord's front bumper in the walmart parking lot. (more like ran it over cuz you could see the tire mark go over the top of the bumper) anyway, it smashed my corner light and it looked really bad at first. but since im not made of money and i'm getting an si anyway, i decided to fix it myself. once i sanded off the plastic that was raised up on the scratches, it looked a lot better. use a pretty rough grit at first, to take down the black plastic thats raised up. gradually, raise the grit up (higher number is a finer grit aka smoother) until the area around the scratch is smooth and you can't really tell a difference between it and the untouched paint. take a clean rag and clean the area really well with some mineral spirits (water will do fine). allow it to dry completely. then take the glaze putty and smooth it into the scratches with a putty blade. glaze putty dries pretty quickly, but i usually let it sit for about an hour and a half. sand the area again with about 300 grit sandpaper until it is smooth. you may need to reapply the putty several times for aggresive scratches, but usually no more than a total of 3 applications. when you are satisfied with the smoothness and you don't think you can do any better, spray the area with built primer. (tape off taillights or any areas you dont want paint on with masking tape). allow the primer to dry and sand it until smooth. start with about a 500 grit. spray again and sand with a higher grit several times until you use 1000 grit and the bumper is silky smooth. clean the area with water after every sanding. no need to let it dry, wet sanding the area might actually make it easier and help you feel any tiny scratches. run your finger across your bumper. you should not be able to tell a difference between the untouched paint and the area you fixed. once it is smooth, you can spray with your body color and let it dry. i recommend spraying the entire bumper, as this will look a lot better. do two coats of your base color, allowing the first one to dry for about an hour. let the second coat dry for 24 hours, if you have the time, overnight if you dont. once it is completely dry, you can either leave it like that or spray a clearcoat over it. either way, i recommend wet sanding the entire bumper with the highest grit sand paper you can find. go over the whole bumper very very lightly. keep it sopping wet, you can't use too much water. i also recommend the clearcoat, as youve already come this far, and it will make it look soooooo much better. let it dry and youre done. you can either leave your bumper on when you do this whole process, or you can remove it. in my case, when the person drove over my bumper, they bent my bumper brackets down about a half an inch. so, i had to remove my bumper anyway to fix that. if you decide to leave the bumper on, then make sure you tape everything off really well so you dont get overspray on anything. now, i, in no way, claim to be an auto body specialist, and my techniques may not be perfect or whatever, but it was my first attempt, and you literally cannot tell the bumper was ever hit or taken off the car. hope i could be of help to you. any questions, just ask. also, if you decide against this whole process (much easier than it sounds) then don't take it to the honda dealer. look around for some local shops and then search on the web for them to get any reviews. if you pick a good shop, it will look just as good as factory. and it will be much cheaper. the dealer will markup the prices for the bumper, paint, labor, etc.
ps- like i said, i dont claim to be a body man, but my way worked out perfect for me. if anyone has any tips for me, feel free to let me know, as id like to know any easier or better ways to do this.
tips and materials you'll need if you attempt this:
variety pack of sandpaper (grits ranging from 80-1000)
putty glaze (red lead)
putty blade
clean rag
bucket of water
spray can of built primer
mineral spirits
masking tape and newspaper (to cover large areas you dont want to paint)
spray can of clear coat
can of your base color (looks like alabastor silver?)
from your pictures, the scratches dont look too bad, but i cant tell for sure. i dont recommend using the glaze putty for any scratches deeper than 1/8". it wont hold well and will most likely crack and fall out. if you have scratches this deep, you'll need bondo (whole other process), so ask me about that.
you should be able to go into any auto parts store and get any of this stuff, with exception to maybe your base color. go to a body shop and they should be able to mix you a small can of your color.
now, your cars paint looks pretty good, but mine is a 94 and the paint on the rest of the car isnt bad, just faded. if i just painted the bumper with the original mix of cashmere paint my car came in, the bumper would be all bright and new and the rest of the car would look really bad compared to it. so, i had the body shop match the paint to my cars paint so you wouldnt be able to tell anything ever happened to it. like i said, your paint looks good, but you might want to have them do it, just to be safe.
i understand, not everyone has a paint sprayer, but maybe one of your friends does? luckily, my friend let me use his. if you dont have one, or a friend who does, take the bumper to a shop and have them paint it. this way you only have to pay for the labor of them painting it
make sure you are hand sanding everything. dont use any palm sanders or anything. most power sanders are flat are go through the paint fast, and youd have a bigger mess than you started with. it wont take long to get the look your going for by hand.
try to do all of this inside. the sanding and glazing can be done outside, but i strongly recommend doing all the paint work inside a garage (or better yet a paint booth, it you have a hook up). you dont want any dust, or leaves or bugs in your paint.

WOW thanks man. and for all the help everyone ..the only thing i was thinking was that its just a bumper and i could get a new one with the factory paint already on it.. if they come with the silver but i would take it to the bodyshop if they didnt come with the silver.. i just didnt think a bodyshop would match the color and would be able to see the difference..so i thought if i order a bumper for this place http://www.collegehillshondaparts.com/ they would already have it silver and i just pop it on...
it will work, if thats the route you want to go. i am pretty sure thats a dealer though, right? can you find an already painted one anywhere else for cheaper? or maybe a cheap one thats not painted yet and you could someone paint it for you?
i Know a guy that did my cousins car ..so im going to see what he says i should do.. i think he will paint it ..my cousin has a ...2001 civic and he matched the blue and everything
