Default cleaning valve train while head is still attached???

i recently pulled the valve cover off my b18c5 and its BLACK WITH SLUDGE, the entire valvetrain and head is black inside, is there somethin i can use to clean it out? any kind of solvent i can use? then drain the pan when im done? or is there anything i can run through the motor to clean it? it wipes off fairly easily.

its black because i had a PCV system problem and it made the motor pretty dirty.

Many people over at BITOG seem to be fond of Auto-Rx, also.

Kerosene will work well too.

Than put it back on and put some Gunk motor flush. Use Gunk for the next few oil changes.
