there's a couple of schools you can attend. Wyotech and UTI, I know UTI has started a import course.

thanks guys for a polite response's i havent slept in a couple days and i just shot that para. out, so sorry for horrible spelling and so on.
Ah yes, you remind me of me when I was that age. Places previously listed are good examples.
Not to me an *******...
It's just ironic to any reader when, in the Tech forum no less, you see a post like this talking about leaving the adolescent years of life behind and goals of future career tainted by something so fundamental and basic to those goals as grammar.
Just a thought, not accusation.
P.S. nice sig, I am a man of flight myself.

You'd be surprised at the number of companys looking online at people's habits. With some research they will find your MySpace/Fackbook and other forums your on. Like a background check, part of the new age.
BTW, if I'm an ******* for being brutally honest, then so be it. I'm not gonna sugarcoat anything.

This is oddly ironic. You misspelled two words and have a sentence fragment.
Go to school and get a part-time job at a honda dealership like me. If you decide to change your career, you at least will have (hopefully) learned some money-saving mechanical skills.

He cant help it.
I've known a number of techs that got their start in local community colleges.

I'm not an English major......heck half the students at OSU can't even pass a spelling test! I rarely check my typing, also dyslexic and a manic depressive.

Most CC have good programs like honda pact. Wyotech is a way more expensive option that does the same as your local CC or vocational school. I went to wyotech biggest piece of **** for the money.....
Hey guys, huge thanks for all the information. I will be checking out schools soon and this help more than you guys know! Hope everyone's turkey day [if you celebrate it] was awesome!

Your best bet is to get into an apprenticeship program at your local honda dealer & go from there. The automotve business is really a bastard & the flat rate pay system can really kill you. It is getting harder & harder to earn a decent living with out killing your sell by working all the time. You may want to think about a back up carear, & then try your luck at becoming a tech. Alot of people I worked with are getting out of the business after being in it for 10-20 years. Just a little insight for you. I myself am a tech. I love working on cars & wouldn't trade it for the world.
I will be attending UM-Milwaukee, or UW-Platteivlle for a Ba. But my true passion is cars, so this tech education will be after freshman year and bit by bit over the summer. I am greatful for your words of advice and it is very smart to have a back up path.

oh man , i wannted to do the same thing be a mechanic and work on cars all day but im doing sheetmetal [installing ductwork] 3rd year apprentice and i make more money than a 10 year experienced car mechanic
I think if you want to be a tech you have to get your foot in the door. Even if you graduate from a tech school you will still start like everyone else-at the bottom. I suggest getting a job at a private shop with alot of business to see if you really enjoy the work. Just tell people you are new but are willing to learn. There are plenty of good opportunities in the field but you have to work VERY hard to get good. You can teach yourself all you want to learn with through the intenet, and get your hands on at your local shop. IATN has alot of good info on automotive basics. Just my 2 cents. Good luck!
