My engine light just recently turned on. My car rumbles when I switch to Drive [auto] . Then when I start driving and step on the gas, my car accelerates late and then peels off. Any clue of what's going on? Please help. It is almost hitting 100K miles and the timing belt needs to be change. Can any of these be the problem?

 

check with a local tranny shop they are notrious for problems. letme guess your rpms goes high and you do not go anywhere and when it kicks into the gear it peals out? baby your tranny dude until you get it to the tranny shop. more then likely your vss sensor is throin your code.

 

take it to autozone, they will read the CEL (check engine light) for free.
i agree with accord99power, sounds like your tranny.

 

thats what i did when i had a similar prob on a 96 accord, they said it was the vss and the dude said yah it should fix the problem, this was when i wasnt on the brighter side of mechanics and bought the damn vss which of coarse didnt work, and they wouldnt take it back.

sounds like transmission problems and CEL could be EGR get it checked

 

bought transmission at junk yard $400 and another $500 to install .

 

this same problem happens to my car..the rpms go up high then the car peels...after the car warms up it doesnt happen..but yea..is there any place i can get an auto transmission for cheap that actually works
