CRV Brakes
I plan on doing a brake job for my sister on her 2000 cr-v. I was just wondering if i needed any special tools or tricks. plus, her brake light periodically comes on, i am assuming it is a wear sensor? thanks for your help.
The brake light is coming on because of the decreased level of brake fluid in the master cylinder due to worn pads, there is not a pad wear sensor.
Off the top of my head, you don't need any special tools, but here is a list that might help.
The usual wrenches or sockets, 10, 12, 14, 17 mm. You will need a 17mm open end wrench for the slider pins. Be sure to grease them. A large pair of slip joint pliers for pushing the piston in will help, or get the piston compressor tool from a autoparts store. If you are taking the rotors off, an impact screwdriver is *highly* recommended.
Other than that, brakes are pretty straightforward. Keep things clean, and make sure your bolts are tight.
