Default Turning off AC w/defrost. I searched with no good answer.

I have searched high and low through this forum, and others, and cannot find an answer. I can't stand the AC coming on when I put the defrosters on!! I read the post from toyomatt84 at https://honda-tech.com/zerothread/556968 that shows how to do it. I tried this multiple times and still cannot get it. Has anyone else done this and won or are there any other ways to bypass this?? Thanks

then you're doing something wrong. worked like a charm for me years ago. it's self explanatory. try it again.

does your ac light blink at all after? are you holding down teh buttons until the ac light flashes? you don't have to start the car, just turn it to the "ON" position.

i followed these instructions:
----------------------------------------------------
What you will need: Two Fingers

Time Needed: 10 seconds.

Annoyed with how you can't turn off the A/C when you turn to defog? Here's the override (realize that A/C expediates the defog process).

These steps are taken from a discussion thread on 2k1civic.com

1. Turn Car Off
2. Turn Temperature **** To Full Blue (All the way to the left - Counter-Clock Wise)
3. Turn Vent **** To Off (All the way to the left - Counter-Clock Wise)
4. Hold Down Air Recirculation Button As Well As A/C Button
5. Keep Both Buttons Depressed and Start Car
6. Keep Both Buttons Depressed for 7 Seconds
7. *AC LIGHT SHOULD BLINK*

You will now have control of your A/C regardless of what setting you are in, to revert back, simply repeat the procedue.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
it says to start the car. I did this and the air recirculation light blinked, not the AC. I will try it without starting the car.

just wanted to follow up in case it helps someone else. I tried without starting the car as the instructions show but it still didn't work. However, after trying every vent type i found you have to have it on the chest and floor vents for it to work. The recirculation light will blink followed shortly by the AC light coming on. Thanks d5.
