Pop your hood and look just above the exhaust ports on the left hand side. There should be a series of circles with numbers inside them ie. (9/5).
What numbers do you see?

Whats the diff between a p72-1 and p72-2 cause i seen a head stamped p72-1 and its from a 98 or at least the markings say that by the exhaust port
A GSR head is a GSR head either way. Now if we were taling PR3 then we get into some grey areas. The ITR heads were stamped PR3 as well, but they had a green stripe on them (i believe). Last i checked the GSR head whether it be OBD1 or OBD2 has the same plugs, the IM plugs are different though.
also i dont think there was a JDM motor that uses the p72 casting, they all used PR3 didnt they? None of the JDM motors use the square combustion chambered heads from what i have read. Could be wrong and im up to find out for sure.
The JDM B18C did in fact come in a gsr version (called something like sir-g). It has slightly higher compression pistons making 178hp. I had one last year.
Most people know of the B18C type R, that's the one that came with the pr-3 head. Actually to add to this thread, the PR3 also came with different stampings such as pr3-2, pr3-4 and such

the pr3 came out in 1989 as a 1990 model for civic and crx and integra's
bump, just checked, sorry for the confusion on my part. just double check, there were casting numbers for 87 on the 1988-1991 JDM Honda Integra RSi/XSi (DA6/DA8). there were development b16 in 85 with the pr3, casting started in 86 in japan and were a limited production...
- i have been importing for 15 years now, thousands of engines, never seen one earlier than 1989, not ever!
- i have most Honda brochures from around the world, that gen Integra came out in 1989, not before!
