Default Pre-Historic SMSP Header ? Dave?

Kinda need Dave to chime in here and take a look at this header and tell me if it's really his or not ? I personally have never seen this style smsp on a ITR...Along with many other ITR owners that say the same...

And for you Totsie, Told you this piece was a 4-2-1...you Homo

Where it bolts to the head, doesn't look like an SMSP to me. Could though, be and older one.

Edit:

Some pics for reference...

Not sure if they did that on the old ones or not. You might want to contact Dave directly and find out.

IIRC the early headers had that stamp....

My friend Chris (RstoR) had one of the first if not the first smsp headers... I believe Dave used Chris's car for R@D...

Edit: I just im'd Chris this link, so maybe he will chime in soon....

actually...Jaime Dunn was rockin' Dave's B-series header earlier than anyone. Think Jack had it for awhile after that. This was when Dave was living in Charlotte.

Think mine was the first ITR header sold. Picked it up in person at Dave's shop in NC. He also later used my car to build/test fit his DC2 catback exhaust. Things were hot back in '01 since John at Hytech was doing the same with Austin's car.

Guess which ITR-OG those feet belong to? Willard.

Nice find. Can we enquire as to how you came across this? The stamp does indeed correlate with how many of Dave's early headers were labelled. Is the header stock length? Are those adjustable secondaries? It's also a bit interesting that it is running a 1-4, 2-3 pairing.

Dave beta tested the B series header on my C5 before going into production..........long time ago.

The very first production batch after the mach up days had and extra hole drilled in the head flange (maybe 15-25ish got out like that) then he moved to the NoVA area.

Yeh, that's one of mine. Built in late 2002 I believe for a guy in Texas who was running a B20 on the bottle. I also made a 3" dump race pipe for it.

I hope you plan to be able to make some serious power because that's a big tube header.

Yeh, Jack was right. Those early flanges were the first ones I had CNC'd. That extra hole must have been on another layer of my AutoCad drawing when I sent it to the machine shop. But if you have a 10 hole flange you have an oldie.

Man Chris, those pictures bring back some memories, huh?

Chris, I found your old graph with that header, 2-1/2" Carsound cat and my 2-1/2" cat back. And tuning via VAFC, baby! What a boring torque curve.

The nice thing about buying something from Dave is that you have a piece of history. The stuff is too good to throw away. Here are some pics from my setup. I don't know what happened to it after I sold it. My setup was ne1ver maximized. I ran a 85mm B16 with a 12:1 compression and Jun 3 cams. I had a bad misfire due to the MSD ignition box on my car with 22degrees of timing it made 192 whp on a "mustang dyno". I was able to get the ignition to advance to 30 degrees on pump after I took off the MSD and went back to stock. Unfortunately I didn't get to dyno it again with the advanced timing.

Here are some pics and a dyno.

I also have a video somewhere of the car on the dyno. It sounded absolutely amazing with the SMS header and T-1R exhaust.

That header looks a bit like the Toda. What is the ground clearance like with it?
