Default Spoon Termo Switch

Guys,

I received a Spoon Termo Switch (part # 37760-Ek9-G00) from Japan as a present.

I want to install this on my Dc2 ITR JDM 99.

My question is> what will this do to my car, what will it help me with ?

I basicly have a allmotor setup, B18C JDM ITR, 4.785 finaldrive etc tranny, Mugen Intake, 4-1 headers, and Catback.

Regards,
Rishi

It lowers the temperature at which the radiator fan(s) is activated.

someone correct me if Im wrong.

in some cases it may take longer for the car to get to full operating temperature. in extreme cases it may prevent the car from reaching full operating temperature. it also may make the fan run non-stop because the car will never cool off enough for the fan to go off. and I think you are supposed to use a fan switch in combination with a cooler thermostat as well.

With the 160 degree thermostat there was certainly a problem with the car not reaching operating temperature, but with the thermoswitch it is not.

It's essentially intended as a sort of "upgrade" to the cooling system. It can be combined with a lower temperature thermostat and/or a high-pressure radiator cap, but it doesn't need to be.

You really are not going to see any performance benefit from it, especially not on a 1/4 mile strip.

no. i'd say it's not gonna help you with any 1/4 mile time improvement.

yeah and probably spoons least "BLING" part.

for 5$ in parts i wired my radiator and A/C fan to switches inside my car so i can flip em on whenever i want and run the A/C fan without the A/C being on.

Usually when a motor reaches too high temperatures as a result of intensive driving, its performance decreases a bit. So I think the thermo switch can prevent from reaching such high temperatures, but it will not be useful at all on a 1/4 mile...
