Crankshaft Pulley Bolt
which direction to spin the bolt out – clockwise or counterclockwise? it's really tight when we try to spin it clockwise and just want to make sure we're going the right way so we don't end up breaking it off. Thanks.
thanks. I am doubting everything I've heard thus far, as I've had people say it is reverse threaded, and others who have said it isn't.
I was also told by the hubby that I should have specified the year and make. It is a 90 Honda Prelude - this could make a big difference I guess (shrugs). We do know that the operational direction is counterclockwise.

Billy is correct. He knows what he's talking about.
I advise you to consult a manual in the future rather than forums.

I would love to take your advice on consulting the manual, but I have the fsm for this car, and the haynes manual and neither specifies the direction that the bolt goes in, in order to take off the crank pulley and that is specifically why I came to the forum - to speak to someone who has experienced this issue before.
Well, if they didn't specify, and all of the newer preludes we can confirm to be normal thread, I think it is safe to ASSume it is CCW to loosen it
I bet the thing is just on ridiculously tight....mine was bad, I thought I was going to break 1/2" drive Snap-on tooling getting it off....

I hear ya. We're actually afraid that we're going to break the bolt because it's on there so tight. We've also read on other forums that this is a very tight bolt.
Thanks for the info though. It is muchly appreciated.
