Default Header questions(yes I searched for you search *****)

First of all, I searched through the 4-2-1 vs. 4-1 threads, and found conflicting info. Of course the majority said 4-1 will gain more high rpm power, and 4-2-1 is more for low to mid range power, but also a couple people said teh 4-2-1 will gain more power period. I found a dc 4-1 header for dirt cheap, and am thinking of picking it up to replace the dc 4-2-1 on my GSR, since I plan on doing a mild build next winter. This header is coming off a b16; does anybody know if dc headers will clear the oil pan, and are made for both 1.6 and 1.8 b series engines?

You won't notice much, if any gains by switch between dc 4-1 and dc 4-2-1. You need to up grade to a quality header like rage production header, smsp, hytech, etc...

You will see gains and spend $700+

That's true, but for the price this guy is willing to let the header go for I could probably make a little selling the 4-2-1 after I swap them plus the car is not a DD so I would be willing to sacrifice a little low-mid range. Does anybody know if the dc ceramic 4-1 headers are usable on both b16s and b18s?

You can use a B18c header on a b16a but not the other way around.

The best header system will be a stepped 4-2-1 with long and fat primaries, tuned for length. It will make more power than a 4-1 everywhere.

As for the DC system, it is generic, wont do much for you. If you are cheap, get a ebay replica OEM 4-1, at least it will have a 2.5" collector. They are under $150 all day, and will make more power than a silly DC piece.

For a street car maybe a tri-y will give you better performance in the low to mid-range. For a race application where you say you want maximum performance within a range of rpms, I have not seen a tri-y perform better than a 4-1.
