Grinding noise during deceleration
I have a 90 LX sedan 5-speed, and when I let off the gas, in any gear, it grinds pretty loudly until I put it in neutral (or push the clutch in). I'd say 1st and 3rd gear are the ones it grinds the loudest in, but its pretty noticeable in every gear. Anyway, I was told it was shift linkage, or a throwout bearing, but im not sure. Anyway to tell? Thanks!
Ok, I read up and i think it is the throwout. Either way, my plan is to change the clutch, flywheel (probably a lightweight 8lb fidanza like I had on my old teg), throwout bearing, input shaft bearing, and anything else I should change while I'm in there? Thanks!
You only would here the throwout w/ the clutch pressed in,when the throwout is in contact with the clutch pressure plate. Definite input shaft bearing which is internal which requires a small rebuild of the trans.
