Default obd0...obd1? ay corumba

alright.. i DID do a search. but all i could find were ways to install and tweak, how to get wire harnesses to work, what is better.... BUT

i can't not find...

what obd0 and obd1 actually are...? type of code? actual wires? i've even googled it... all i can get are products and the such..

i am a n00b.. so i expect harshness.. but if you want to help a n00b be less of a n00b... i'd appreciate it.

On Board Diagnostic.

OBD0 Is technically considered "pre-OBD", and OBD1 would be honda's "first" OBD system.

diagnostic..? like the computer telling the engine what to do when?

basically if you want hondata s300 or other tuning programs for better tuning capabilities then you buy a harness that converts a ef from obd0 to obd1 in order to run a obd1 ecu...try streetlightz.com if you are concidering going that way

what you're saying you can make an engine run better by changing the wire harness? to make the engine think its different?

What he is saying is that you have more tuning options if you change your car now which is obd0 to obd1. Because ecu or computer tuning chips are limited for obd0 ecu's, Its easier to find someone to chip your obd1 ecu cause more company's make them. With a chip you can increase HP and torque.

here is a link i think this is what you are looking for, if it is just buy one its a real hassle to make one, https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1193207

here is the deal.

In the mid to late 80's, it became economically feasible to put a computer into a car to help run the engine. this idea was called an Onboard Diagnostic System, and was common in airplanes at the time, but not cars. The united states government implemented rules that stated that by 1992, all cars should be standardized with on board diagnostic systems, and set forth the rules for the car makers to comply with.

In preparation for compliance, honda developed a system that was to start the process of becoming compliant with the US government law, and so included an on board diagnostic system in the 1988 model year civic and some other cars in that same year. This diagnostic system was the precursor to the actual US government standard compliance system that was to be included in 1992 and up model year cars. In the honda tuning world, the generation from 1988-1991 is considered OBD-0, or more precisely Pre-OBD. It was designed to segway toward complaince in 1992. It is important to note that the OBD-0 computers were reverse engineered a person by the screen name of Blundar with some help from others in the honda community, and Blundar later went on to form PGMFI.org which remains a resource today for people interested in Honda ECU reprogramming.

In 1992, honda cars became compliant with the US government regulations, including a standardized on board diagnostic system that met the requirements of the law. This generation of computers were called OBD-1 computers, and were produced from 1992-1995. The system grew in capability, meeting the need to handle more sensors attached to the engine to handle emissions control and engine performance. The OBD-1 computers were again reverse engineered by the now large group of people at PGMFI.org. The ECU's in this generation, for the most part, shared the same PC board layout, which allowed many of the ecu's to be converted to the P28 style VTEC ecu that was very popular for reprogramers and needed by people swapping newer OBD-1 engines in their older Pre-OBD (OBD-0) cars.

The reason OBD-0 ECU's cannot be used as a direct plugin for OBD-1 ECU's is because of the increased number of sensors, Mainly an extra oxygen sensor. The pin order and connector type on OBD-0 boards also differ from the pin order and connector type on OBD-1 boards, which is why you need to buy a conversion harness for your ecu in order for the new OBD-1 ecu to run the newer OBD-1 sensor layout engine.

following 1995, additional standards were approved by the US Government, and created the OBD-2 series of ECU's, which have been cracked fully by aftermarket companies, but not yet definitively by the people at PGMFI.org. These generations introduced further pinout changes for plugs, as well as new sensors that have to be accounted for.

Right now, the most popular choice for tuning a Honda ECU on a budget is the OBD-1 P28 ecu or the obd-1 P72 ecu, using software called Crome. There are many people and companies that can supply conversion harnesses for many different cars and many different ECU choices as far as honda's go.

The big facilitator to this movement was really Honda, because aside from changing a few sensors from their OBD-0 to OBD-1 generation, they mostly left ALL of the old OBD-0 sensors in the OBD-1 cars, which made engine swaps from a 92-95 into a 88-91 trivial because nearly all the sensor plugs remained the same, they just needed to be rewired to the correct pin on the newer ecu. This means that only a small amount of wiring was needed to change a new higher horsepower engine into an older lighter car.

The people who came before us and pioneered this discovery ignited a movement in a very short amount of time, and led us to the point we are at now where honda-tech exists and modifying a Honda is a fairly mainstream thing to do.
